Guardianships
Guardianship Lawyers - Cleveland, Ohio
Whether the act is voluntary or a decision that is made by a family member, appointing a conservator or guardian to handle financial matters for a family member who is either too young to make decisions or else incapable of doing so is an important consideration.
At the law firm of Algis Sirvaitis & Associates, we have assisted family members in making these important appointments and have even served in these capacities in cases where there are no family members to make decisions. Our decades of experience enable us in helping individuals and families devise plans that ensure the careful, prudent handling of finances. Conservatorships
Appointing a conservator is a voluntary act on the part of an individual who wishes to have a second party to handle his or her finances. An individual who serves as a conservator must make an appearance before the probate court on a biannual basis to ensure that matters are being handled properly. Our firm applies four decades of experience in helping clients choose conservators who will prudently handle monetary matters.
Guardianships
Guardianships differ from conservatorships in that the individual in need of care is generally incapable of making rational financial decisions on his or her own. Generally, people who are underage, adults with mental incapacity, those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease or even those who have undergone severe physical trauma may be deemed in need of a guardian to act on their behalf. This role is generally undertaken by a family member. However, in the case of the absence of family members, our attorneys have acted as administrators and guardians.
